More on Charlie Daniels

Charlie Daniels is a well respected fiddle player. He is best known for “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”, which is an outrageously quick and technical song. A lesser known fact about him is that his parents had the surname ‘Daniel’, but due to a mistake on Charlie’s birth certificate, he is legally Charlie Daniels. Another surprising fact is that Elvis Presley, the King of Rock himself, recorded one of Daniels’s songs, “It Hurts Me”. Charlie was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016. After he passed away, a park was named after him (Charlie Daniels Park), which is located on Charlie Daniels Parkway in his home state of Tennessee. Source: tasteofcountry

Future Growth for the Genre

Fiddlers have been getting inducted into the hall of fame since 1976, starting with Bob Wills. Since then the instrument has grown in popularity, slowly expanding out of the exclusive classical music category and growing into other genres. These days the fiddle can be found in Appalachian, bluegrass, blues, jazz, cajun, creole, country, western swing, and European songs. In these different genres there are varying techniques and meters, changing the experience significantly in each. Fiddles are enjoyed for the reason that they are able to adapt to many unique styles and grow with their musician. Because of this, fiddles will continue to expand more into pop culture and more modern spaces. Source: samash.com
